Synopsis
All Claire Jacoby wants is to remember herself. She knows her name. She knows how to read and write, to dance and play the piano.
Over the last seven years, she’s built a life out of the parts of herself she had left, designed a facade to present to the world. She got a job with a small ballet company and managed to stack social custom upon social custom well enough to hide the broken bits of herself from the few friends she made. Last year, she suffered an injury and lost her ability to dance.
Now she’s lost. Bitter. Life has ground to a halt. Her facade is crumbling.
And then she stumbles upon William Foley. He moves too fast. His skin is too cold. His presence both overwhelms her and electrifies her. William’s a vampire and he does very little to hide it from Claire. He sweeps into her bitter, colorless little life and starts putting Claire back together piece by piece.
William knows Claire. He has, in fact, known her for hundreds of years. He also knows that if he could find her, then Lilith could find her. And Lilith wants Claire dead.
